Step up to IT, Press Release

February 16th, 2009

VANCOUVER -  Kedsey Consulting, a boutique Vancouver Information Technology outsourcer, has announced a new seminar series entitled “Step up to IT:  How to manage computer systems in the workplace even if you’re a complete neophyte.”

Kedsey’s founder Matthew Tipping has created an afternoon course series using the lessons from his company’s experience in helping technically-challenged small businesses over the past 15+ years.  The aim of these seminars is to make the sophisticated world of technology strategy, systems integration, and project management accessible even to those who have no desire to get their hands dirty.

“We have been called in many times to rescue failing projects,” said Tipping, “or because companies have lost faith in their own IT personnel.  The common thread is the lack of a shared understanding between company leadership and their geeks, if you will, that leads to all kinds of disconnects and inefficiencies.”

Every small business must deal with the issue of working with outside IT consultants, or small silos of self-managed internal IT workers. Understanding what’s involved, benchmarking success or failure, and dealing with and prioritizing day-to-day issues is not something that comes intuitively to entrepreneurs and managers.

Using real-world examples and case studies, this seminar provides a comprehensive look at the IT departments of successful businesses, how they are typically run, and how to get surprisingly impressive results at minimal cost. The end benefit for attendees is a broadened understanding of the key issues, best practises and success metrics in making and evaluating IT management decisions.

“Matt’s focus on generating value for his clients has given him great insight into how to manage small business IT” said Mark Hunter, Manager of General Operations, The Ascenta Group of Companies, “but his unique talent as an IT professional is being unafraid to do things differently, and in having the ability to explain complex IT in ways accessible by anyone and compelling to all. That is where he generated the greatest value for us.”

The next course track begins on March 19th, and costs $349.
